I grew up in the 70s and 80s, so I ain’t quite an old fart yet but things sure are different now. According to the current batch of ‘enlightened experts’, allowing a first grader to utter the word ‘gun’ is guaranteeing that that child will be in a clock tower with a rifle later in life. They think that it is the guns that do this, but inanimate objects can’t be responsible for anything.

The rifle itself has no moral stature, since it has no will of its own. Naturally, it may be used by evil men for evil purposes, but there are more good men than evil, and while the latter cannot be persuaded to the path of righteousness by propaganda, they can certainly be corrected by good men with rifles.” ― Jeff CooperArt of the Rifle

We used to play cowboys and indians when we were kids. Nowadays, it is not politically correct to do this. You can’t even call them ‘indians’…folks (who aren’t Native Americans by the way) will say Native Americans might get offended by it. Give me evidence. These are the same folks that were appalled when some Navajo code talkers went to a Washington Redskins game wearing Redskins jackets. How dare those Native Americans not be offended by this?!

Some people just have a deluded view of the world and can’t understand why reality just doesn’t conform to it. These last couple of generations have grown up so sheltered from reality by parents who think they want to protect their kids from getting their feelings hurt. These kids are in their early twenties before they encounter reality. Reality has never been part of their life and they have no clue how to deal with it when it smacks them up side the head.

One example of reality is that many more lives are lost in drunk driving incidences than killed with guns but nobody is screaming to prohibit us from owning cars. If you are going to apply logic to an issue, it, first of all, has to be logical. Secondly, if it is logical, apply the same logic to everything. Folks don’t apply the same logic to things that they don’t want to lose as they do to things that they don’t care about. The only conclusion that can be arrived at is that they don’t care about what you want. They are more than willing to deny you your desires just so long as it has no detrimental effect on their desires.

Their wants do not have to be justified though. Just the fact that they want it that way should be reason enough on its own. They do require that you give justification for why you desire to keep your guns though. They will not even listen to your reasoning after they ask for it. They let you talk but they really aren’t listening. They wait for you to pause for air, then tell you that you are fine with children getting shot because you don’t want to give up your right to protect yourself with a firearm.

They can insult me but, if I disagree with them, I am the hater. Just like the whole ‘indian/Native American’ thing. I am offended when I am told I can’t say something because someone else might be offended by it. There is just no reasoning with these kind of people. Now, I can respect other people’s feelings and concerns all day long, but you really need to be able to rationalize them.

Speaking of rationality, there was a story in the news a few months back that was all about ‘no gun’ signs at schools. The issue that these folks had, was this. They didn’t want to put these no gun stickers on the school doors…but not for the reasons you might think. The reason they didn’t want to put the stickers on the doors was because they are so afraid of guns that the mere shape of the gun on the sticker caused them stress. I mean, how weak-minded do you have to be that the mere image of a gun causes you to feel like you are going to wet your panties? The scary part is, these irrational people are the ones educating our children.

If you disagree with me, that is all well and good but at least be able to articulate why you think or feel a certain way. That is all I ask. Rational thought is required to have an intelligent conversation. Give me logic…give me evidence…give me rational thought. If your way of thinking is ruled by emotional response, you are unpredictable.

By the way, the above picture is of some kids dressing up like soldiers and playing war during WWI. Did these kids grow up to be deranged lunatics? No. They grew up to be what we now call the greatest generation.
